چکیده

The enzyme solution (S-100) was prepared by the procedure described in a previous paper.l) The inactivation was carried out at 37°C for 3 hours in the following reaction mixture : 100 mg (0.2 mmoles) of kanamycin or 91mg (0.2mmoles) of ribostamycin in 25ml of water, 4,842mg (8.0mmoles) of disodium ATP trihydrate in 100 ml of 0.8 % sodium bicarbonate, 25 mg (0.03 mmoles) of coenzyme A in 50ml of water, 25ml of the enzyme solution (20mg/ml protein),

Aminoglycoside 6'-N-acetyl-transferase of Pseudomonas aeruginosa: structural requirements of substrate.

Sir: As reported previously,1-5) aminoglycoside 6'-N-acetyltransferases [AAC(6')] in R factorcarrying Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are involved in the mechanism of resistance to several aminoglycoside antibiotics such as kanamycin, kanamycin B, 3',4'dideoxykanamycin B (DKB) and ribostamycin. Gentamicin C1a and sisomicin are acetylated by these enzymes6,7). In this paper, we repor...

Cells of Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Ten strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were disrupted and centrifuged. The supernatant fluids from centrifugation at 105,000 X g contained enzymes inactivating kanamycin, neomycin, and streptomycin in the presence of adenosine triphosphate. Kanamycin-inactivating enzyme was precipitated with ammonium sulfate at 66% of saturated concentration, and the inactivated kanamycin was shown to be kanamyc...

R factor-mediated aminoglycoside antibiotic resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa: a new aminoglycoside 6'-N-acetyltransferase.

The newly introduced semisynthetic aminoglycoside antibiotics, i.e., 3',4'-dideoxykanamycin B (DKB), 6'-N-methyl DKB (6'-Me-DKB) and amikacin (AK) have been found to be effective against gram-negative pathogens including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which are resistant to the known aminoglycoside antibiotics. We have demonstrated in our stock cultures two types of P. aeruginosa strains resistant to ...

In vitro activity of Quercus brantii extracts against biofilm- producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Background: Biofilm formation by Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a serious concern in treatment of diseases and medical industries. Natural products that originate in plants can influence microbial biofilm formation. The effect of ethyl acetate, methanol and water- methanol extracts of Quercus brantii on biofilm formation and biofilm disruption of P. aeruginosa were investigated in this study. Methods...
